“European Season” Formula 1 2009 has started. Scramble title competition is now increasingly clear: Brawn-Mercedes versus Red Bull-Renault. Meanwhile, Ferrari and Mercedes-mclaren now increasingly hopeless.
High expectations do not equivalent with the fact at the Spanish Grand Prix last week (8-10 May). Almost all the teams appear with the car has been upgraded significantly. But, ultimately, the situation is still like the four previous races.
Brawn-Mercedes is still a major power. Red Bull-Renault still the number one gadfly. Brawn successful finis 1-2 (Jenson Button in front of Rubens Barrichello), while Red Bull finis 3-4 (Mark Webber in front of Sebastian Vettel).
Although both teams are relatively new in this board up (Brawn truly new!), "Heart" both actual an old fighter. Ross Brawn, Brawn-Mercedes bosses, and Adrian Newey, Red Bull technical boss, actually an "old enemy".
In fact, this was “the third round,” Brawn versus Newey competition. In the early to mid 1990s, Ross Brawn is the technical director of Benetton-Ford (then become Benetton-Renault), while Newey are Williams-Renault designers. Both teams are the main strength on that period.
In the late 1990s and early this decade, both compete to snatch the title again at the different side. Ross Brawn at Ferrari, Adrian Newey at McLaren-Mercedes.
Now, Brawn-Mercedes versus Red Bull-Renault!
While both F1 “brain genius” compete at the top, “the traditional teams on the upper board” is now increasingly hopeless. Ferrari, champion constructor seasons ago, continues to show weakness of execution and strategy plus have the reliability constraints. Mclaren-Mercedes, the top drivers on the title Lewis Hamilton, until now still seems slow.
