Most powerfull teams in the last two years, Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes, both face the same ordeal at the beginning of this 2009 season. To overcome the problem, both side do the very different way.
Mclaren choose a "continuous improvement," which continues to bring new components in each race. In the first four series, this team continues to update the car MP4-24, mostly small changes.
In Bahrain, for example, McLaren called install 12 new components on the car! The result is sizeable, Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen is able to show progress on the track.
While Ferrari chose the different ways. They choose to do a massive upgrade at the Barcelona circuit this weekend. The news, a car that was brought to Barcelona is quite different with the car in the first four series, so this new car should be given a new code. Media in Italy have been calling this Barcelona car as a Ferrari F60B.
Major changes have called on the diffuser and a few other body parts, plus the location of the components that affect the distribution of the weight car.
Last week, Ferrari test driver, Marc Gene, has testing the B version car in Vairano, Italy. Even though only testing on the straight track and a slightly curve (according to rule 2009), the result is very satisfactory.
“I got a good news from the team, they said the our new aerodynamics package show positive signs,” said Kimi Räikkönen. “I have been curious to try the car in Friday practice round,” he added.
Raikkonen is not that patient again felt the victory. He is more than one year do not feel victory. The last Success was achieved last season in early 2008, also in Barcelona. Since that time, the 2007 world champion has a 18 race without a single victory.
Ferrari F60 B version may still not enough to help Raikkonen back to the top of podium in Barcelona. But, this car may be able to close him again with victory.
“The drivers never lose their ambition to win. And I want to feel right again (enjoyment victory) as soon as possible,” he closed the conversation.
