Medal system proposal in the Formula 1 event in the future will be to make many changes. FIA claim, the system will create a new order of the list of F1 champion changes.
As reported Paddocktalk, on Monday (2/2/2009), several days ago F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone had bring about new ideas in the F1 in the future. Ecclestone would like to make the competition is becoming increasingly strict with eliminating the point system and replace it with a medal.
In this new idea, only the top three drivers will get a count. Champion in every event will get a gold medal, the two got Silver, while the drivers who finish in third position will receive a bronze medal. At the end of the season, the acquisition of each medal will be calculated and the most collected medals will be the winner.
This is clearly different from the points system used in each even F1. Currently, the eight drivers who will finish first prize points. Where, the first champion got 10 points, second 8 points and get the third champion six points. Acquisition of these points will then calculated at the end of the season. Similar to the medal system, drivers who get the most amount of points will appear as a winner.
However, according to Ecclestone, this system only to make Formula 1 boring because competition is not too tight. In the new ideas where every drivers only race for top three positions, Ecclestone think that Formula 1 competition will more strictly.
But Ecclestone’s having the impact of course, one of which is the order of the list for the world champion is calculated based on the old system. FIA said the change of this medal system will make the champion of the world order changed.
This new system is intended to reduce the number of list champion. From the total list of 59 world champion, only 22 drivers who do not change. While the other 37 will experience a change in position. This changes the order of 13 due to the reason.
Next list the order of the points system:
