LONDON – FIA change the regulations concerning the engine. The Formula One (F1) were freed from the obligation to practise each Friday at the Grand Prix in 2009 season.
FIA race director Charlie Whitting clarify that, rules on the use of F1 engine that has been eliminated. But drivers still can not do as they want.
Engine for Formula 1 drivers are limited. Only eight engine for each drivers. They can use the engines ‘as they like’ for a whole season.
“From now on, eight machines will be used for three days of each Grand Prix title,” Whiting said as F1Live wrote, Thursday (29/1/2009).
“So, the team will use the same engine every Friday, may be the four first fight. And they will install a different engine for Saturday and Sunday,” he added.
This turns out it is confusing. Because usually, the team always use one engine for qualifying and change it at the time of the Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Whiting confirmed, penalty will be given only if the drivers using nine engines.
